Review of works in the field of ecology
based on Remote Sensing and GIS
on the territory of Central Asia and Kazakhstan

foreword:

This is the first issue of “Terra” magazine, which was created for publication about new developments and methodical approaches to the application of the technologies of remote sensing and geoinformation systems (GIS) in the field of environmental protection, thematic mapping, environmental design, land- and nature management.

The company CRS and GIS “Terra” is a founder and a publisher of the magazine.

Our company was founded in 1999. The main direction of our activity is rendering services in the field of environmental protection, cartography and also oil and gas sector of economy.

The basic mission of our company is the development and practical application of new advanced technologies of geoinformation mapping and space survey in ecological and geographical, biological studies, in nature management and environmental monitoring.

At present time the company’s major achievements are a combination of large ecological studies in various regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan directed at the solution of important applied and target problems.

By means of periodic magazine "Terra" we intend not only to share the results of own researches, but also to publish interesting developments and materials of all interested persons in such actual directions as:

·   Remote sensing;

·    Geographic Information Systems;

·    Natural environment protection;

·    Ecosystem studies and biodiversity;

·    Geographic studies;

We hope that our magazine will become a collection of new ideas in many issues and directions, and an instrument of cooperation and all interested scientists and specialists.
